Harmony first arrived in rescue already carrying a huge responsibility.
She gave birth to five beautiful kittens of her own and immediately settled into motherhood with quiet patience and devotion.
Like many mother cats, she spent her days:

But Harmony’s role as a mother was only beginning.
Just five days after giving birth, Harmony was introduced to four orphaned kittens who desperately needed help.
Without a nursing mother, kittens that young face overwhelming odds.

So we carefully introduced the orphaned kittens to Harmony, hoping she might accept them.
And she did.
Without hesitation, Harmony welcomed every single one of them into her nest.

As far as Harmony was concerned, they were hers now too.
Suddenly, she was caring for nine tiny kittens.
And then came the puppy.
Tiny Waldo, an orphaned Yorkie puppy, had no mother of his own.
We could bottle-feed him and monitor his medical needs. However, we knew he needed more than food alone.
Newborn animals also need:
Those bonds matter deeply during early development.
So, with cautious hope, we introduced Waldo to Harmony.
And once again, she amazed us.
Harmony immediately accepted him as one of her own babies.
No confusion.
No rejection.
No hesitation.
She simply made room for one more.
Now, Waldo spends his days piled together with his kitten siblings, tucked safely into the middle of Harmony’s growing family.
Sometimes you genuinely have to search for him among the kittens.
One tiny puppy.
Surrounded by cats.
Completely convinced he belongs there.
And honestly?
He does.
Because to Harmony, species never mattered.
Need mattered.
Love mattered.
Instinct mattered.
