Da Vinci’s Dream is proud to partner with Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter on projects designed to improve shelter conditions, support lifesaving rescue efforts, and create safer environments for homeless animals in Eastern Kentucky.
These projects represent the power of collaboration, community support, and shared commitment to animal welfare.
Proper drainage and clean kennel environments are critical for animal health and sanitation. In 2025, we partnered with KRRAS to help improve drainage systems and concrete kennel areas in an effort to create safer, cleaner conditions for the animals housed at the shelter.
Facility improvement projects like these help shelters operate more efficiently while improving daily quality of life for homeless pets awaiting rescue or adoption.
Reliable transportation saves lives. Through generous community support, Da Vinci’s Dream helped provide a dedicated transport van to Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter to assist with rescue transfers, medical transport, adoption events, and emergency animal response efforts.
This vehicle helps connect homeless animals with veterinary care, rescue placement, foster homes, and adoptive families across Kentucky and beyond.
The transport van represents more than transportation — it represents partnership, compassion, and a shared commitment to helping animals in need.
Safe and functional shelter infrastructure is essential for both animals and staff. Through community support and fundraising efforts, Da Vinci’s Dream helped fund new shelter doors for KRRAS to improve security, efficiency, and daily operations within the facility.
These improvements help create a more stable and comfortable environment for the hundreds of animals who pass through the shelter each year.
2025 has been the biggest year in the history of Da Vinci’s Dream — not only in numbers, but in growth, impact, and purpose. This year inspired us, refined us, and ultimately taught us to lead with grace. We learned to bless those who support us, and just as importantly, to bless those who don’t. In doing so, we found peace and learned one of the most important lessons of all: what forgiveness truly looks like in action.
These are the values we chose to embrace throughout 2025, and the fruit of those choices has been nothing short of remarkable.
This year reminded us why this work matters so deeply. Through lifesaving rescue efforts, trapping initiatives, spay and neuter programs, and ongoing community outreach, Da Vinci’s Dream was able to make a meaningful impact in more ways than we ever imagined. Animals arrived in our care frightened, neglected, injured, and unsure — yet through patience, medical care, and compassion, they were given the chance to heal.
Because of the unwavering support of our community — as well as surrounding communities and the states we adopt to — over 300 dogs found loving forever homes in 2025. Beyond adoption, countless animals were helped through trapping and preventative efforts aimed at reducing suffering before it begins and creating more humane outcomes for animals living outdoors or in unstable conditions.
Our impact this year extended far beyond rescue and adoption alone. We were honored to give back directly to the shelters and organizations that care for animals every day. At Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter (KRRAS), we completed multiple facility improvement projects, including replacing worn doors in the overflow dog building to allow in natural light, installing a new drain system and concrete pad to create a cleaner and safer environment, and building and donating insulated dog shelters to provide warmth and protection. In addition, a generous member of our team made a private $5,000 donation to support KRRAS and the critical work they do for animals in our region.
We also supported Green River Animal Shelter (GRAS) through both supplies and financial assistance. This year, we donated 23 bags of dry dog food and 8 cases of canned dog food to help ensure dogs in their care had consistent access to nutritious meals. A generous member of our team also made a private $5,000 donation to GRAS to further support their lifesaving efforts.
Our commitment to community outreach continued with the construction and donation of over 150 insulated cat shelters, helping outdoor cats stay warm and safe throughout the winter months. We also donated 20 Kuranda beds to Tri-County Animal Shelter, providing dogs with a more comfortable place to rest while awaiting their next chapter.
One of the most meaningful moments of the year was our Christmas shelter giveaway at Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. This community-centered event brought people together with singing, warm drinks, and treats, while providing insulated dog and cat shelters through a drawing held in partnership with the shelter. Our team built and donated 10 insulated dog shelters and 30 insulated cat houses, placing them directly into the hands of community members caring for animals in need.
Our largest contribution of the year was the donation of a transport van to Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. This van will allow more animals to receive their freedom rides — transporting them to rescues, shelters, and adoptive homes more efficiently. Designed by one of our team members, the van reflects the joy and hope behind every life it carries.
Every rescue, every project, and every success this year was made possible by our fosters, volunteers, donors, adopters, partner shelters, and supporters who believe in this mission and walk alongside us. Your trust, generosity, and commitment allow us to continue showing up — even on the hardest days — for the animals who need us most.
As we reflect on all that 2025 brought, we are filled with gratitude and anticipation. We have big plans for 2026, rooted in the same values of grace, service, and compassion that carried us through this year.
Thank you for being part of Da Vinci’s Dream.
